NIOSHThe National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is extending the comment period for its carcinogen and Recommended Exposure Limit (REL) Policy Assessment.

NIOSH made the announcement today in the Federal Register that the deadline – which was to have been September 22, 2011, will be pushed forward to December 30, 2011.

In a review of its approach which began last month, NIOSH requested initial input on issues and created a new NIOSH Cancer and RELs Policy web topic page  http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/cancer/
policy.html that provides progress updates about the effort.

NIOSH cited a request to extend the comment period to permit the public more time to gather and submit information as the reason for the revised deadline.
