OSHA GHS rule now at OMB for review

GHSOSHA chief Dr. Michaels said this week at the National Safety Congress and Expo the long-awaited Global Harmonization System standard that will revise OSHA’s hazcom data sheets is now under review at the Office of Management and Budget.

ISHN asked when the standard will be published. Dr. Michaels smiled wanly and said he has learned the hard way not to predict standards’ timelines. Usually OMB has 90 days to review a rule.

Look for the GHS rule to be issued first quarter of 2012 — maybe.
