constructionOSHA has renewed an alliance with the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry to continue providing PCBI members and their employees with information, guidance, and access to workplace safety and health training resources.

Kevin Kilp, director of OSHA's Harrisburg Area Office, said the arrangement lets the agency reduce and prevent worker exposure to hazards predominantly associated with general industry.

Since the alliance's inception in March 2004, OSHA and the PA Chamber have jointly provided safety and health presentations to approximately 2,500 workers in general industry and safety and health professionals in the Harrisburg area. Presentations will be expanded throughout Pennsylvania under this new agreement.

Through its Alliance Program, OSHA works with unions, consulates, trade and professional organizations, faith- and community-based organizations, businesses and educational institutions to prevent workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses. The purpose of each alliance is to develop compliance assistance tools and resources, and educate workers and employers about their rights and responsibilities. Alliance Program participants do not receive exemptions from OSHA programmed inspections.
