The Center for Construction Ressearch and Training (CPWR) has launched a website aimed at reducing construction industry fatalities caused by falls.

"Almost every working day, somewhere in the United States, a construction worker dies in a fall," according to CPWR Executive Director Pete Stafford. "All too many families have an empty place at the table once occupied by a man or woman working at our calling - but whose life was cut short by a deadly accident of this kind. On Workers Memorial Day 2012, it is high time to put a stop to the number one killer of construction workers on the jobsite.
 
Stafford said the CPWR said it applauds Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis for her strong stan, and is proud to join with OSHA, NIOSH and other partners in business, labor and government in a multi-year campaign against fall fatalities in our industry.
 
The website developed CPWR, www.stopconstructionfalls.com, will serve as a clearinghouse of resources for the initiative. Visitors can learn about the deadly toll of these accidents by consulting the unique construction fatality map housed there, and access educational materials on fall prevention. Moreover, they will have an opportunity to enlist as partners and join this campaign for workplace safety.
