sunburnWith summer officially underway, The American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) is providing some helpful tips to keep your summer both safe and fun.

Summer is the time to enjoy the warm weather and the outdoors. Following these sun safety tips from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can protect you from the sun’s damaging rays:

• Wear SPF 15+ sunscreen on all exposed skin (and add a hat and sunglasses too!)
• Seek shade during the sun’s peak hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
• Check the UV Index to identify the times that pose the greatest risk for overexposure to
the sun.

The summer months lure us all outdoors for work and play, but we’re not alone. Bugs and pests are more prominent during the warmer months and many people use repellents to deter insect bites and stings. Using repellents containing EPA registered ingredients is recommended.
