Heavy hitters, new horizons for this year’s CIHC conference

Convention NewsThe California Industrial Hygiene Council (CIHC) has assembled an impressive lineup of speakers and a wide-ranging slate of topics for its annual conference this year, which will be held Dec. 3-5 at the Westgate Hotel in San Diego’s Gaslight District.

The forward-looking theme of “Exploring New Horizons” will cover topics like Government and Regulatory Challenges; Emerging Issues; Environmental Assessments: Preparing the Industrial Hygienist for an Increasing Role; Crossover EHS Topics; What Was Old is New Again; and Case Studies—Learning From Experience.

Speakers and presenters include NIOSH Director Dr. John Howard, AIHA Government Affairs Director  Aaron Trippler, AIHA President Alan Fleeger, Cal-OSHA Chief Ellen Widess, and Dr. Barbara Materna, Chief, Occupational Health Branch, CA Department of Public Health.

Also speaking: Debbie Raphael, Director, California Department of Toxic Substances (DTSC), Cal-EPA; Dr. Michael Kosnett, Associate Clinical Professor, University of Colorado School of Medicine & Department of Environmental & Occupational Medicine; Larry Gibbs, Associate Provost, EHS, Stanford University; Donna Heidel, National NIOSH Prevention Through Design Coordinator; Donna Bayton, MD, Solar Turbines; Deborah Gold, Director, Occupational Health Standards, Cal-OSHA and others from industry, government, academia and consulting.
