At the National Safety Congress: Showa Best eco glove is a first

Down on the expo floor, news from Showa Best : GREEN-DEX™ is the world’s first biodegradable disposable nitrile glove, according to the company.

Showa Best is using an R&D breakthrough called ECO BEST TECHNOLOGY™ (EBT) that quickens the biodegradation of nitrile in biologically active landfills and anaerobic digesters, a process validated by certified labs using internationally recognized test methods, according to the company.

EBT is composed of  organic materials designed to make the GREEN-DEX glove attractive to microbial activity. These microorganisms consume the EBT material extract enzymes that depolymerize the nitrile. The final outcome: biogases and inert humus.

The company says the GREEN-DEX glove can be used in the same applications as regular nitrile gloves, with no loss of performance or physical nitrile glove properties of texture, appearance, etc.
