Educational Opportunities

  AIHce 2013 will have many different educational formats, including a large selection of Professional Development Courses (PDC) in classroom settings designed to provide expert knowledge, practical tools and essential skills that can be applied immediately; Podium Sessions (PO): 20-minute presentations on scientific research, case studies, or professional practice that focus on a particular topic; Roundtable (RT) discussions, in which various viewpoints present balanced perspectives, comparisons and/or controversies in current issues; Science Symposiums (SS): roundtable offering a high level of scientific content; EHS Crossover Programs (CR) that provide practical information on safety and environmental topics; Poster Sessions (PS): graphic illustrations of scientific research, case studies, or professional practice and Interactive Sessions that allow for networking with colleagues in small but highly active group settings.

  Topic areas from last year’s AIHce include: communication, training, confined spaces, construction industry, emerging issues, engineering, environmental issues, ergonomic, ethics, green building/leed, hazardous chemicals, IH general practice, incident planning and response, mold, nanotechnology, noise, occupational exposure levels, protective clothing and equipment, respiratory protection, risk assessment and toxicology.

New this year

  A Registration Layaway Plan allows attendees to register early and defer part of the fee until later. Stewardship 2013 will bring together prominent product stewards and sustainability professionals to discuss current issues, case studies, practical experiences and new developments. A Canadian Issues Track will cover oil and gas industry safety topics.   More than 600 vendors will demonstrate a variety of products from a range of areas including asbestos abatement, biosafety, communication/training, confined space, construction, consulting, education/training, emergency response, environmental consulting, ergonomics, health and safety products, hazardous waste management, hearing conservation, lead abatement, legal services, noise abatement, PPE and respiratory protection.
