Flight safety eyewearFlight™ safety eyewear from Gateway Safety won the top spot in Industrial Safety & Hygiene News’ first-ever Readers’ Choice Awards contest, conducted online during March and April. Flight, a revolutionary design in eye protection, features exclusive, patent-pending temples that offer the biggest comfort advancement in safety eyewear in a generation. Flight was the top vote-getter in the category of Eye/Face Protection – Plano Safety Spectacles. The award winners, in several different industrial hygiene and safety categories, will be officially announced in the August issue of ISHN. Each winner also received a glass award commemorating their achievement.

In response to the award, Matthew Love, Gateway Safety’s vice president, said, “Thank you to the voters for identifying Flight as the most innovative solution in safety eyewear. While many people view safety eyewear as a commodity, similar to orange juice or petroleum, Gateway Safety doesn’t subscribe to that point of view. This award is compelling evidence that all brands of eye protection are not created equally and, in the view of many safety professionals, Flight safety eyewear is better than competing alternatives. We are pleased and honored that users of safety eyewear and those who specify safety eyewear recognize Gateway Safety’s efforts to provide true innovation in eye protection.”

Not only does Flight’s revolutionary comfort temple design make it a top choice, but also, since its introduction in February 2013, its quality has earned it the UL Listed Mark for meeting ANSI Z87+ and CSA Z94.3 standards. Additionally, Flight’s design for exceptional impact protection both meets and exceeds the ballistics section of the U.S. Military Standard, MIL-PRF-31013, Clause 3.5.1.1.

Flight’s patent-pending temple tips were engineered with Gateway Safety’s proprietary Temple Technology™ construction for exceptional comfort. The soft, flexible temple “wings” provide gentle cushioning on the sides of the head. No matter what size the wearer’s face—wide or narrow, large or small—Flight offers absolute all-day comfort and a perfect fit without the pinching behind the ears that employees hate. This, in turn, helps employers increase worker compliance with personal protective equipment requirements.

Flight also features a unique floating lens design that allows air to flow between the frame and the lens, fighting against fogging. Other comfort features include lightweight construction and a rubber nosepiece.
