oil workersOSHA’s stand down program is coming to the oil and gas industry.

During national stand downs, participants are asked to suspend work for at least one hour in order to allow employees to attend meetings and learn safety and health information specific to their industry.

The oil and gas industry event, which is being organized by OSHA, the National Service Transmission, Exploration and Production Safety Network and the University of Texas at Arlington's OSHA Education Center will be on Nov. 14, between 9:30 and 11 a.m.

An official ceremony will kick off the event at 9:30 a.m. at the Humble Civic Center, 8233 Will Clayton Parkway, in Humble, Texas.

Speakers include Dr. David Michaels, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health and Dr. John Howard, Director, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Respirable Silica and the 2013 Incidents Videos will be shown. Warren Hubler, HSE VP at Helmerich & Payne, and Industry co-Chair of the NORA O&G Extraction Council will discuss: “The business Case for Safety.”
