The venerable National Safety Council Congress & Expo returns to sunny Orlando, Florida for the Council’s 97th annual meeting this October 23-30 at the Orange County Convention Center. The exposition will run October 26-28.

NSC’s Congress & Expo has been North America’s largest annual event serving safety, health and environmental solutions to the safety industry professionals for almost a century. With more than 120 technical sessions, 30 professional development seminars, more than 800 exhibitors and 15,000 total participants, it’s the mother of all safety shows. Plus, new in 2009, five, half-day workshops.

Educational opportunities
This massive educational and networking opportunity is in line with the NSC’s historic mission. The National Safety Council was founded in 1913 and formally recognized as a safety leader by an Act of Congress in 1953 that granted a Congressional Charter to the National Safety Council. NSC is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization and the only major national entity dedicated to safety of people in all aspects of their lives: at work, on the roads and in homes and communities.

Technical session presentations are 90 minutes and are delivered as single speaker lectures, multiple speaker lectures, and panel discussions. The Congress attracts many speakers with industry experience who describe specific case studies or projects, and speakers discussing current, recent or emerging safety issues.

Professional development seminars are one to multi-day courses that students pay a separate fee from Congress registration. These seminars build knowledge and skill development, require development or provision of student materials, and are delivered in a classroom-style format.

Speakers include safety directors, industrial hygienists, union members, personnel and human resource managers, government officials, volunteer organizations, fire protection experts, agricultural leaders and academic representatives from more than 50 foreign countries.

Conference attendees will earn continuing education credits at both technical sessions and professional development seminars.

The expo marketplace
The expo portion of NSC will run from October 26 to 28. During these three days, more than 7,000 buyers will visit the more than 800 companies showcasing the latest EHS wares. The show features New Product Showcases and Live Product Demonstrations plus attendee lunches on the Exhibit Floor. New in 2009 will be the Welcome Reception on the Expo Floor Monday evening.

Products cover all categories of safety and health equipment, training and consulting services, including personal protection equipment (PPE) and products for transportation, construction, emergency response, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, occupational health and environmental protection.
