Occ docs sign on with OSHA

The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) has added its name to the list of 21 other organizations that have formalized alliances with OSHA.

ACOEM also becomes the twelfth group to focus specifically on ergonomic-related injuries.

Under the agreement, OSHA and ACOEM will provide healthcare providers with ACOEM-developed information and guidance to recognize, diagnose and treat ergonomic injuries. The effectiveness of ACOEM's ergonomic programs and best practices will be promoted at conferences, local meetings, speaking engagements and other events.

Both organizations have agreed to share information on innovative solutions to ergonomic problems, including programs already developed by ACOEM. OSHA and ACOEM will encourage wide implementation in industry of ergonomic hazard recognition strategies and analytical tools that work, and stress the importance of sound ergonomic programs to business.

ACOEM is an international medical society of more than 6,000 members, headquartered in Arlington Heights, Ill.
