ACGIH presents Fundamentals in Industrial Ventilation and Practical Applications of Useful Equations

ACGIH® and its renowned Industrial Ventilation Committee present two continuing education courses in September.

Fundamentals in Industrial Ventilation will be held September 17-20, 2012, and Practical Applications of Useful Equations will be held September 21, 2012 at the ACGIH® Professional Learning Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Earlybirds who register for either course on or before August 20, 2012 will save $100.00; those who register for both courses by the earlybird deadline will save over $200.

Fundamentals in Industrial Ventilation is a four-day course that covers both basic and advanced topics related to industrial ventilation including:

  • The behavior of air and chemical contaminants in the air
  • Industrial process exhaust system design (including ACGIH® calculation methods)
  • Make-up and supply air ventilation systems
  • Dilution ventilation systems
  • Selection and design of exhaust hoods, ducts, and fittings
  • Fans and air cleaners (including Fan Laws)
  • Troubleshooting and testing of existing systems
  • Hands-on testing and measurements

Course participants will receive ACGIH®’s Industrial Ventilation: A Manual of Recommended Practice for Design, 27th Edition, Industrial Ventilation: A Manual of Recommended Practice for Operation and Maintenance and Companion Study Guide to Industrial Ventilation: A Manual of Recommended Practice for Design, 27th Edition, ACGIH® Velocity Pressure Method Calculation Spreadsheet for performing calculations and equations covered in the primary workbooks provided with the course, including ventilation system design, a CD-ROM with copies of classroom PowerPoint presentations, copies of labs and exercises along with supplementary course materials, and course handouts.   

Practical Applications of Useful Equations is a one-day course that serves as the perfect add-on to Fundamentals in Industrial Ventilation.  This course closely follows the workbook supplied, and includes:

Calculation and estimation approaches related to airborne contaminants

TLV® and TWA

OA for dilution, fans, system testing, sound and noise, ergonomics, radiation, ventilation, statistics, chemistry, etc.

A calculations lab in which participants work in a team environment

Course participants are required to complete Fundamentals in Industrial Ventilation prior to taking this course.  Materials received include Jeff Burton’s Useful Equations and Industrial Hygiene Workbook, course handouts, a CD-ROM with copies of classroom PowerPoint presentations, copies of labs and exercises along with supplementary course materials.

Fundamentals in Industrial Ventilation has been approved by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene for 4.34 ABIH Certification Maintenance (CM) Points. This workshop qualifies for 2.6 BCSP Continuance of Certification (COC) Points for Certified Safety Professionals. Practical Applications of Useful Equations has been approved by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene for 1.08 ABIH Certification Maintenance (CM) Points. This workshop qualifies for 0.65 BCSP Continuance of Certification (COC) Point for Certified Safety Professionals. Certificates of Completion will be presented at the conclusion of the course.
