Keller Safety Professional of the Year (SPOTY) award. The annual SPOTY award recognizes workplace safety professionals who achieve excellence in safety for their organizations and who build a culture and vision for safety. Nominations will be accepted through July 1, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. CST at jjkeller.com/spoty.

J.J. Keller accepts self-nominations and nominations of others for the SPOTY award. Winning nominations are chosen by an extensive panel from J.J. Keller’s 50 safety consultants and editors. The SPOTY award presentation will take place in September 2019.

The J.J. Keller Safety Professional of the Year and their organization receive national recognition. In addition, the safety professional receives more than $10,000 in cash and prizes, including $2,500 in cash, a plaque and certificate, a free one-year subscription to the KellerOnline® Safety Management Tool for both the winner and their staff (10 seats maximum), and $1,200 in free online training from J.J. Keller.

SPOTY award nominations are open to all safety professionals in the United States. Awards are presented for the J.J. Keller Safety Professional of the Year as well as second- and third-place recipients. The second-place award winner receives $500 in cash, a plaque and certificate, and a free one-year subscription to the KellerOnline® Safety Management Tool. The third-place award winner receives $50 in cash, a plaque and certificate, and a free one-year subscription to the KellerOnline® Safety Management Tool.

In 2018, the J.J. Keller Safety Professional of the Year was Tracy Clingingsmith, safety manager for Alamo Group in Seguin, Texas. Second place was awarded to David Swanson, senior director of safety and mission assurance at Orbital ATK in Dulles, Virginia. Third place was awarded to H. Demetrius Rumph, director of safety and risk management at the City of Columbia in Columbia, South Carolina.
