Fatalities due to motor vehicle accidents on U.S. highways decreased by 2.4 percent last year, according to data released yesterday by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The biggest decline in fatalities - 10.3 percent - was among children 14 and younger.
It was the second consecutive year of reduced crash fatalities.
