The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is encouraging travelers to take an active role in aviation safety when they fly this holiday season. Travelers can make their flight even safer by taking a few minutes to follow these guidelines:
The FAA is also working to help passengers by reducing flight delays during the long Thanksgiving weekend. A partnership between the FAA and the Department of Defense will once again allow commercial aircraft to use airspace normally reserved for the military. The agreement opens airspace during one of the busiest travel periods of the year in certain parts of the country, particularly off the east coast from Maine to Florida above 24,000 feet. This will ease congestion during a holiday weekend when nationwide traffic is expected to be up 10 percent when compared to regular travel days.
