Moisture management, wicking, sweat-fighting, high performance, breathable…these are all terms that are becoming more well-known beyond just the typical sports industry. Workers are beginning to realize that their personal protective equipment (PPE) can be comfortable without compromising their safety. Working men and women are the backbone of any company, and they are at their most productive when they are comfortable, confident and worry-free on the job. Many of their jobs have an inherent risk of injury, they deserve to have the best possible protection; they also deserve the opportunity to work in protective garments that are comfortable — making work feel less like work.
For years cotton fabric has been the standard in comfort, but untreated cotton garments offer no thermal, flame or arc protection. Cotton fabric loves moisture and will hold onto it, resulting in soaked, heavy and clammy garments. There are numerous flame-resistant (FR) PPE garments in today’s market that will provide necessary protection, but without moisture transport, the body is not ventilated; this increases the risk of heat stress dangers.
