The 2014 American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition (AIHce) wrapped up its six-day educational event this past spring with the induction of a new American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) leader. Christine A.D. Lorenzo, CIH, a U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety and occupational health manager for federal and state operations, was conferred as president of the international professional society, which represents 10,000 OEHS professionals from around the world.
Lorenzo noted that during her tenure, she plans to elevate the global conversation on worker health by developing new and nurturing existing relationships with IH and OEHS organizations around the world, which will result in greater tangible benefit to AIHA members and other professionals practicing internationally. She is also keen to work on getting more K-12 and college-university students energized about the science of protecting and enhancing the health and safety of people at work and in their communities.
