OSHA cited Cedar Fair LP – which operates as Cedar Point – for failing to protect workers from fall hazards after an employee suffered serious injuries at its Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park. The company faces proposed penalties of $142,270 for one willful and one serious safety violation, the maximum penalties allowed under the law.
All OSHA officers had to do to see the safety violations at one Winnetka, Illinois worksite was to look up. There, they saw employees who were roofing a home working at heights up to 23 feet without adequate fall protection.

The data has been collected in the annual OSHA Top Ten Violation Report for 2015, which reveals that the total number of incidents were down 4.5% from 2014, and 11% from 2013. While welding the frame of a U.S. Navy vessel, a shipyard worker was just one foot away from three open manholes that exposed the employee to potential falls of up to 30 feet. These, and other alleged safety and health hazards, were cited against Colonna's Shipyard Inc., a ship repair facility in Norfolk, following a May 2014 inspection conducted by OSHA.

Employees at Superior Plastics Extrusion Co. Inc., doing business as Impact Plastics, were exposed to two dozen safety and health hazards, including falls and mechanical hazards, according to federal inspectors. OSHA has proposed penalties totaling $66,789 for violations at the company's Putnam, Connecticut, manufacturing plant.
