New training From J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. helps construction companies instill a safety mindset
One in five private-industry fatalities in 2015 was construction-related (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics). To help construction companies foster a strong safety culture, J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. developed its Construction Safety Basicstraining program.
“Construction work is often a dangerous and unforgiving job,” said Mark Stromme, subject-matter expert at J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. “Solid safety training on the unique hazards construction workers face is critical to preventing injuries and fatalities.”
Construction Safety Basics training program helps workers (especially those new to a company’s jobsite) understand the safety issues and hazards they face, as well as what safe work practices they can use to protect themselves. Divided into four segments — Work Practices, Work Environment, Safe Use of Equipment, and In Case Of an Emergency — the training program covers 28 essential safety topics, including:
• Slips, trips, and falls;
• Personal protective equipment;
• Fall protection;
• Hazard communication;
• Electrical safety;
• Temperature extremes;
• Hand and power tools;
• Stairways and ladders;
• Aerial lifts and scissor lifts;
• Emergency action plans;
• First aid/emergency response; and
• Workplace violence.
Construction Safety Basics is available in DVD, Pay Per View, Online Course, and Video Training Book formats. For more information on the program, visit JJKeller.com/121336.
