Fall protection certification program expands

The Safety Equipment Institute is now offering certification of fall protection equipment to the performance standard ANSI A10.14-1991, "American National Standard for Construction and Demolition Operations - Requirements for Safety Belts, Harnesses, Lanyards and Lifelines for Construction and Demolition Use."

This gives safety managers and employers another option when purchasing certified personal protective equipment. SEI also certifies fall protection equipment to the ANSI Z359.1-1992 standard for "Safety Requirements for Personal Fall Arrest Systems, Subsystems, and Components."

Products carrying the SEI label must pass compliance testing conducted by Midwest Testing Laboratories, a rigorous quality assurance audit of their manufacturing facility, and annual re-certification.
