OSHA’s Maritime Advisory Committee to meet

http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2011-09-02/html/2011-22582.htmMaritime advisory committee to meetOSHA will hold a meeting of the Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (MACOSH) in Portland, Maine, September 20-21, 2011.

MACOSH advises Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Dr. David Michaels, on worker safety and health in the maritime industries. The September meeting agenda includes discussions on person in water (man overboard); cargo handling equipment; confined space ventilation; selection of welding shade protection; safe entry and cleaning practices in vessel sewage tanks; best practices for eye injury reduction; toxic materials; and injury and illness prevention programs.

The meeting will be held at the Eastland Park Hotel, 157 High St., Portland, ME 04101. The full committee will meet Wednesday, September 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work groups will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, September 20.

MACOSH meetings and workgroups are open to the public. Individuals may submit comments and requests to speak during the meeting at www.regulations.gov, the Federal eRulemaking Portal. Submissions may also be sent by mail or facsimile. See the Federal Register notice for details. Comments and requests to speak must be submitted by September 14, 2011.
