The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Board of Directors has approved the formation of a new AIHA committee focused on safety issues. The first meeting of the new committee will take place at the 64th annual American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition (AIHce), to be held May 10-15 in Dallas, Texas.

AIHA says its members are increasingly active in the discipline of safety and have urged the association to provide tools and educational materials to assist them. The new Safety Committee will serve as an organized body of active and knowledgeable safety experts to help in developing safety-related conference sessions, educational materials, courses, publications and position statements for AIHA.

The organizational meeting of the AIHA Safety Committee will be held on Monday, May 12, from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Dallas.

AIHA's board also has approved the formation of a new Special Interest Group (SIG) focused on the issues surrounding indoor environmental quality (IEQ), including such contentious topics as mold and microbial growth. The first meeting of the new SIG will take place at the AIHce.
