The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) this week sent its official comments to OSHA on the agency's Request for Information (RFI) to the Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard, which was published in the Federal Register on December 9, 2013, Volume 78, No. 236, beginning on Page 73756. OSHA said RFI was in response to an Obama Administration request that the agency identify issues related to modernization of its PSM standard and related standards necessary to meet the goals of preventing major chemical accidents.
The Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC) voted this week to continue AIHA Laboratory Accreditation Programs’ (AIHA-LAP, LLC) recognition and signatory status of the IAAC Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA). The decision was based on AIHA-LAP’s successful 2013 onsite evaluation by both the IAAC and the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC).

The American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) and the Product Stewardship Society will host the 2013 AIHA Asia Pacific OH Conference + Exhibition at the Raffles City Convention Centre in Singapore, October 29 - 31. The meeting, now in its third year, will offer education and training focused on occupational hygiene and product stewardship topics in the Asia Pacific region.
The American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition (AIHce) 2013 concluded its six-day event with the induction of a new American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) leader. Barbara J. Dawson, CIH, CSP, was inducted as president of the international professional society, which represents 10,000 occupational and environmental health and safety professionals.
