AIHA® and Product Stewardship Society announce open registration for 2013 AIHA Asia Pacific OH Conference + Exhibition

Meeting to offer forum for attendees to network while learning practical applications to manage OEHS issues

June 19, 2013

Convention NewsThe American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) and the Product Stewardship Society will host the 2013 AIHA Asia Pacific OH Conference + Exhibition at the Raffles City Convention Centre in Singapore, October 29 - 31. The meeting, now in its third year, will offer education and training focused on occupational hygiene and product stewardship topics in the Asia Pacific region.

“We’re proud to say that an outstanding new program has been developed for this year’s meeting,” said Richard Hirsh, CIH, MPH, chair of the 2013 AIHA Asia Pacific OH Conference + Exhibition and EH&S associate director of Nektar Therapeutics. “As the main occupational health-focused show in the region, this conference brings together professionals from various specialties around the world in the fields of industrial hygiene, occupational health, and product stewardship.”

The meeting program will kick off on Wednesday, October 30, with an opening session keynote address by Jukka Takala, DSC, MSC, executive director of the Workplace Safety and Health Institute in Singapore. Dr. Takala’s presentation will provide an overall view of Asia’s workplace safety and health challenges and identify potential opportunities to find solutions.

Additional general session presenters will include Kent McElhattan, chairman of the board of directors for the National Safety Council, Veronica Chow, senior assistant director of occupational hygiene at the Singapore Ministry of Manpower and Frank Renshaw, PHD, CIH, CSP, managing member of Bayberry EHS Consulting, LLC.

This year’s meeting program will be divided into a stewardship and sustainability track and a technical track that will cover a wide range of occupational health topics.  On Tuesday, October 29, AIHA will also offer three pre-conference professional development courses (PDCs) on noise control engineering, ergonomics and product registration requirements in the Asia Pacific region.

The full meeting program is available at www.aihaap.org/programme/Pages/default.aspx. Poster abstract submissions will be accepted until July 15. To register for the 2013 AIHA Asia Pacific OH Conference + Exhibition, please visit www.aihaap.org/reg-hotel/Pages/default.aspx.
