Gas detection technology has been rapidly evolving over the last few years. Multi-sensor instruments are designed to support an increasingly wide range of sensors. The most commonly used technologies of the past for combustible gas and VOC measurement are being replaced or augmented by newer technologies such as photoionization (PID) and infrared (IR) sensors. New toxic exposure limits, such as the TLV® for methane, are forcing many instrument users to take a new look at the technologies they use to detect gas. With all of the choices available, it's critical to understand what detection technique works best for a given hazard.

You will Learn:

  • How to comply with the new toxic exposure limits for combustible gases
  • Capabilities and limitations of LEL, infrared (NDIR) and photoionization (PID) sensors
  • Choosing the best type of sensor for specific monitoring applications such as confined space, HAZMAT, oil industry and Homeland Security
