Innolytics helps plants tackle pigeon problems

Innolytics
November 1, 2016

Tell us a little about the history of your company.

Innolytics, located in San Clemente, CA, is a privately held company developing population management technology for wildlife.  Innolytics’ OvoControl (brand of nicarbazin) was created 15 years ago in order to solve the problem of pigeon overpopulation.  The company’s patented technology was developed in collaboration with USDA/APHIS.  The non-lethal and humane technology interferes with the hatchability of eggs by feeding treated bait during the reproductive season — effectively “birth control” for birds.

What has been your company’s business strategy to gain market share?

OvoControl, birth control for birds, stops reproduction and results in a gradual and predictable attrition of the population.  As opposed to increasing mortality with trapping, shooting or poisoning, OvoControl is offered as a more effective and long-term alternative to reduce the pigeon population at a given plant site.

Describe the core branded products of your company.

OvoControl P is our leading product.

How do distributors contribute to your success in the marketplace?

OvoControl distributors often provide customers with the first introduction to the product.  Pigeon problems at pigeon impacted sites are obvious and many plants have long given up on methods to control them.  This makes for a relatively easy sales process.

Do you offer training?

Innolytics provides a complete training program to distributors willing to allocate the time.

What business characteristics do you look for when selecting a distributor?

OvoControl represents disruptive technology.  We prefer distributors that are open to new ways of doing things and a track record of innovation with their customer base.

Do you have any recent news about new facilities or new personnel to report?

Innolytics recently revamped their website.

Describe your current financial picture.

OvoControl continues to gather momentum with annual sales growing at roughly 50% annually.

What should distributors know about your company’s future, in terms of short- and long-range plans?

Innolytics is expanding its product portfolio with development focused on other pest birds – house sparrows, grackles and mynah birds.
