to (Safety) Leadership.” Frequent presenter at con- ferences and a subject matter expert in behavioral interventions for Aubrey Daniels International.

 

Daniel H. Anna, PhD, CIH, CSP

Sr. Industrial Hygienist, Asst. Group Supervisor, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, and 2015 president of the American Industrial

Hygiene Association. A graduate of AIHA’s inaugural Future Leaders Institute.

 

Robin Baker, MPH

Member of OSHA’s National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) and Director, Research to Practice, School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley. One of the field’s leading academic scholars. Specializes in interventions to address occupational health disparities; immigrant workers and young workers. Also construction safety. A widely published author.

 

Jordan Barab

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health since 2009. Was senior labor policy advisor for health and safety from 2007-2009 for the House Education and Labor Committee. Worked for the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board from 2002 to 2007. Longtime labor union safety official, and creator of the award-winning weblog, Confined Space, from 2003 to  2007.

 

Michael Belcher, CSP

Serves as VP, Safety & Risk, for DS Waters, and is 2016 president of the American Society of Safety Engineers.

 

Kristen Bell, PhD

Researcher, author, speaker, workshop instructor and co-founder of the Krause Bell Group. Possesses degrees in psychology and business

management and specializes in executive coaching, leadership development and culture transformation.

 

Liz Borkowski

Senior research scien- tist, George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health, managing editor of Women’s Health  Issues.  Frequent safety and health  blogger. Academic associate of OSHA chief Dr. David Michaels  at George Washington.

 

Garrett Brown, MPH, CIH

Retired Cal/OSHA compli- ance officer shows no signs of letting up in his monitoring of foreign workplace conditions and training workers in  these

plants. Garrett  is now  helping  raise  funds  for the recently launched OHS Initiative (train the trainers) for Workers and Community in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He’s involved in other Bangladesh OHS projects as well. Since 1993, he has been coordinator of the Maquiladora Health and Safety  Support Network.

 

Jonathan Brun

Current CEO of Nimonik, which produces web and mobile services for EHS management.

 

Lamont Byrd, CIH

National Director of Safety and Health for the International   Brotherhood of Teamsters since 1995 and current member of  OSHA’s National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH). Byrd has a Master of Science degree, is a Board-certified industrial hygienist and currently serves on the Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and   on the Board of Scientific Advisors with  NIOSH.

 

Todd Conklin, PhD

Author of “Pre-Accident Investigations – Better Questions.” Worked for 12 years in the human performance pro- gram at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Has said: “Safety is the ability for workers to be able to do work in a varying and unpredictable  world.”

 

Dave DeSario

Founding member of the Alliance for the American Temporary Workforce www.temporary- employee.org. Calls himself a “pissed off temp worker” who made the documentary, “A Day’s Work,” which tells the story of a 21-year-old temp worker killed on his first day of work at a Bacardi bottling plant in  Florida.

 

John Drebinger

Motivational safety speaker for 26 years and author of the book, “Would You Watch Out For My Safety?”

A regular blogger with more than  1,200 followers. Regular featured speaker at ASSE, VPPPA, and regional meetings, as well as scores of corporate worksites.

 

Jim Frederick

Jim has worked with the United Steelworkers (USW) International Union since 1994  in the Health, Safety and Environment depart- ment.  Jim  is  currently  the  assistant director  of the HSE department. In addition, Jim coordinates the work of the USW’s Tony Mazzocchi Center for Worker Health and Safety Education and sev- eral federal grant programs. Jim has a  Bachelor  of Science degree in environmental health and industrial  hygiene  and  a  Master  of  Science degree in environmental health and safety management.

 

Shawn Galloway

Always on the move presenting, making videos and podcasts, and writing blogs and articles, the president and COO of ProAct  Safety. Co-author of several books on safety excellence.

 

Tejal K. Gandhi, MD, MPH, CPPS

Current president and CEO of the National Patient Safety Foundation.

 

Krista Geller, PhD

People Based Safety and Human Performance Manager, Bechtel Corp. workshop instruc- tor, construction safety expert, energy company EHS manager, safety trainer, public speaker, and co-author of the forthcoming book, “Actively Caring for People’s Safety: How to Cultivate a Brother/Sister Keeper’s Work Culture” with her father, Dr. E. Scott Geller.

 

Marcy Goldstein-Gelb

Mary was named co- executive  director  of National COSH in 2016. She served from 1999 to 2016 as executive director of the Massachusetts  Coalition  for Occupational  Safety and Health (MassCOSH).

In 2005, Goldstein-Gelb was recognized by the American Public Health Association (APHA)  with its Lorin Kerr Award, which honors outstanding efforts to improve the lives of workers. In 2009,  she was recognized by National COSH with its  Tony  Mazzocchi Award. Marcy holds a Masters

in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University, with a spe- cial focus on program development and community-based education.

 

Kristyn Grow, CSP, CHMM, SGE

Current manager of Cintas Corporation’s multi-site VPP programs, one of the most robust VPP programs funded by a major corporation.

 

Darryl C. Hill, PhD, CSP

Vice President, Global Health & Safety for Johnson Controls, Inc. Responsible for 300+ worksites. Past president of ASSE. One of the safety profession’s best communicators with the C-suite. Subject matter expert in EHS information systems. Has written on safety and sustainability: understanding the business value.

 

Daymond Hill, CSP, CHMM

Principal Safety Professional, Walt  Disney World, Orlando. Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational  Safety  and Health, Master’s degree in Business Communication and 19 years of experience in Environmental, Safety and Health regulatory compliance, as well as pro- gram development and  management.

 

Todd R. Hohn

Current executive director of UL’s Integrated Health & Safety Institute. Specializes in risk management, large-scale culture change management, human error, and lean safety.

 

Rick Ingram

Chairperson of the National STEPS Network, an all- volunteer  organization (4,000 members; 725,000 students) dedicated to improving health and safety in  the U.S. Onshore Upstream Exploration  and Production industry. Current member of OSHA’s National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH). Safety and health advisor to BP America Production Company since  2001.

 

Lisa Jackson

Currently Apple’s vice president of environ- ment, policy and social initiatives, reporting to CEO Tim Cook. From 2009 to 2013, served as administrator of EPA.

 

Ann Klee

Oversees environmen- tal health and safety for General Electric and is managing GE’s reloca- tion to Boston. Soon to become head of the GE Foundation. GE’s EHS operation is a driving force behind HOP – human and organization performance -- which uses systems thinking and controls to compensate for human error.
