Work-related accidents in 2017 in Bangladesh in 2017 claimed 1,242 lives and injured 371, according to a report by the country’s Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Foundation (OSHE). Nearly 300 of the fatalities and 101 serious injuries occurred during the first three months of the year.
That figure represented a slight increase from 2016, which killed 1,240 workers. Bangladesh has a population of 163 million.
