As TRI reporting deadline nears, J.J. Keller offers filing assistance

J. J. Keller
June 17, 2019

By July 1, facilities that manufacture, process or otherwise use toxic chemicals specified by EPCRA 313 must file their annual Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) report.

“For those facilities required to comply, J.J. Keller’s Toxic Release Inventory Reporting Service can help them prepare and file their TRI reports quickly and accurately,” said Steve Murray, vice president of editorial & consulting services at J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc.

A facility must complete a TRI report if it meets all three of these criteria:

  • It is included in a covered Standard Industrial Classification (SIC), a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code, or is a federal facility; and

  • It has 10 or more full-time employees (or the equivalent of 20,000 work hours per year); and

  • It manufactures, imports, processes, or otherwise uses any of the more than 600 chemicals covered in the TRI program in amounts greater than the “threshold” quantities.

“J.J. Keller’s experienced consultants are able to reduce the burden and complexity of reporting by determining the specific state and federal environmental requirements for your location, then completing and filing the TRI reports on your facility’s behalf,” Murray added. “Failure to TRI report as required can result in civil penalties of up to $57,317 per violation.”
