A sometimes forgotten component of a company's overall safety program is first-aid/CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation). Typically, people are excited when they become certified in this area. But after a few weeks pass without an opportunity to put their newly gained skill to the test, the excitement dies down and complacency sets in.
While no one hopes they have to use first-aid/CPR, those that are to respond to an incident must find a way to keep their skills sharp, even despite inactivity. Like the young man who asked how to get to Carnegie Hall, there is only one solution: "Practice, practice, practice."
