Near-death in workplace inspires surgeon to write book
Normally it’s the patient who is at risk in an operating room, but during one surgical procedure, Dr. Emile Allen was electrocuted and nearly died. The event had far-reaching repercussions on Allen’s life; he went from performing intricate surgical procedures to struggling just to do simple things such as counting change at the grocery store or reading a book.
Allen has has written a book about his experiences, “Eaten By The Tiger: Surrendering to an Empowered Life.”
Tiger is a collection of stories that recount Allen’s years of hard work and study to become a surgeon – and then his experiences as a patient (which include frustrating encounters with the health care system).
