Health & Safety Institute educates public to beware of the growth of fraudulent CPR training
In honor of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Month, Health & Safety Institute (HSI) has created a public service announcement website to educate the public about the prevalence of fraudulent online CPR training and the public health and safety risk that results from responders inadequately prepared to administer these lifesaving techniques.
As found on the the site at www.OnlineOnlyCPRFirstAidSham.com, HSI points out that no major nationally recognized training program in the United States endorses certification in CPR, first aid, or professional-level resuscitation without hands-on skill practice and evaluation by a qualified instructor. Yet consumers can easily find websites that offer “instant CPR and first aid certification” which feature online-only CPR and first aid “courses” or “exams” that “meet requirements” and which have no hands-on skill practice or evaluation component.
