Vendor NewsIRISS, a leader in the electrical maintenance safety devices (EMSDs) market, announces the acquisition of New Jersey-based Delta T Engineering, a 25 year-old privately held company. Delta T Engineering predominately develops a wireless monitoring system designed to detect temperature increases and prevent electrical equipment failures within electrical enclosures caused by poor connections and overloaded circuits.

Terms of the acquisition, effective January 1, 2014, includes all the rights to trademarks, brand names, certifications, domain names, inventions, patents, registrations, copyrights, inventory, intellectual property, licenses, royalty fees, source code, object code, documentation, and trade secrets. IRISS will move the company to its headquarters location in Bradenton, FL, and will hire new engineers & assemblers locally to accommodate additional product offering.

"This acquisition plays into our overall company strategy of becoming a leader in the EMSD market. Delta T’s online monitoring system will join our family of PESDs which currently includes infrared (IR) windows, ultrasound ports, and external voltage detection ports,” Martin Robinson, CEO of IRISS Group. “Use of EMSDs allow maintenance tasks to be completed while the switchgear enclosure remains closed and collectively EMSDs are providing a cost-effective way for companies to comply with all of the established and changing NFPA 70E standards for maximum inspection safety while minimizing commercial risk."

The Delta T technology effectively tracks electrical system temperatures and sends that data back to a computer hub for analysis and trending. If a critical issue arises, you’ll know about it in time to take the appropriate corrective action, before costly damage occurs. Maintenance personnel, electricians and facility occupants will have an enormous safety advantage if warned, prior to any type of scheduled routine maintenance or troubleshooting of possible electrical anomalies prior to accessing anomalies prior to accessing electrical.

Delta T Engineering

  • Ability to record up to eight readings per day at specific time intervals
  • Record readings under different load conditions during all seasons
  • Trending over time
  • Reduced energy costs because there is immediate repair to loose/dirty connections
  • Maintenance personnel are now warned on any electrical issues prior to scheduled routine maintenance

It is significant that most electrical maintenance and safety standards value the use of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) inspections such as IR surveys, Ultrasound inspections, vibration analysis, MCA, and partial discharge testing as a critical part of an electrical preventative maintenance program.  EMSDs provide a way for companies to comply with recommendations for inspection and safety standards/guidelines while protecting their personnel, equipment and profits.
