Galson Laboratories is acquired by SGS SA

Galson Laboratories will become SGS Center of Excellence for Industrial Hygiene Lab Services

Vendor NewsGalson Laboratories is pleased to announce its purchase by SGS SA, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. SGS is recognized as the global benchmark for quality and integrity. With more than 80,000 employees, SGS operates a network of over 1,650 offices and laboratories around the world. Galson Laboratories, an SGS Company, will become the SGS Center of Excellence for Industrial Hygiene Lab Services within its global network. Galson’s clients will benefit from this acquisition as SGS will work to expand Galson’s services and quality globally as well as expand analytical capabilities. Galson Laboratories remains dedicated to its clients throughout North America ranging from consulting firms to end users throughout all the diversified industries served today.

Galson Laboratories will become another step in growing SGS’s expertise and quality in the Global Health and Safety Arena. “Our vision has been to be the global leaders in providing data for the protection of workers, and as part of SGS, Galson will have the greatest opportunity to realize our vision,” said Joe Unangst, President/CEO of Galson Laboratories. “Together we will be able to meet the needs of industrial hygiene, health and safety professionals all over the world.”

The management team and employees are staying on to continue the quality, service and innovations clients have enjoyed with Galson Laboratories. Galson Laboratories’ latest innovation is through a recently acquired license for the patent pending Galson OneTouch Sampling Vest that will revolutionize the way data is collected to protect workers. Innovations and the extended client base brought by SGS in North America and beyond are expected to increase the rate of growth and create jobs for the company.

Established in 1878, SGS transformed grain trading in Europe by offering innovative agricultural inspection services. The Company was registered in Geneva as Société Générale de Surveillance in 1919. Shares were first listed on (SWX) Swiss Exchange in 1985. SGS consists of ten business segments operating across ten geographical regions.
