The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has extended the comment period for its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking governing the agency’s investigation procedures. The new deadline for comments was moved from October 14 to October 31, 2014.
On August 12, 2014, the NTSB published the NPRM, in which the NTSB proposed several changes to its rules on how it conducts investigations. The NPRM included a proposal to organize its investigation procedures into mode-specific subparts, and update several terms and procedures, among other changes. The NTSB listed a 60-day deadline for comments.
As stated in the publication that will appear in tomorrow’s edition of the Federal Register, representatives from other government agencies contacted the NTSB and indicated that they would need more time to provide comments. Due to the comprehensive nature of the NPRM, the NTSB decided to extend the deadline to October 31.
The public may submit comments to the NPRM via www.regulations.gov (Docket No. NTSB-GC-2012-0002), or via postal mail or facsimile, addressed to the NTSB Office of General Counsel.
