The American Society of Safety Engineers is offering a virtual symposium to help occupational safety and health professionals better understand the sweeping changes OSHA recently made to its final rule on Walking-Working Surfaces and Personal Fall Protection standards in relation to slip, trip and fall hazards.
OSHA this week issued a final rule updating its general industry Walking-Working Surfaces standards specific to slip, trip, and fall hazards. The rule also includes a new section under the general industry Personal Protective Equipment standards that establishes employer requirements for using personal fall protection systems.
The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) today announced Thomas Kramer, managing principal at LJB Inc., an Ohio-based civil engineering firm, as the 2016 Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year for his leadership in helping develop more than 18 fall protection standards.

3M has unveiled a state-of-the-art testing facility for its expanding portfolio of fall protection solutions, complete with a research and development tower. The testing facility is located within 3M’s Fall Protection campus in Cottage Grove, Minn. and will be fully functional by the end of 2013.
