NFPA 70E 2021 Proposals: Changes to Consider for Your Electrical Safety Program

Learn about what has been proposed and changes being considered for the 2021 Edition of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace® that could impact your electrical safety program.

The update cycle is well underway with the Public Input Report under discussion at the NFPA 70E Technical Committee First Draft Meeting held in August. The 2021 first draft will be compiled and voted on by February 2019.  Make sure you are informed about hot button issues as the standard evolves.

Learning Objectives:

  • Survey major proposed changes to NFPA 70E 2021 and best practices considered to be added to the standard.
  • Explain how to comment on changes to support or defeat proposed changes in NFPA 70E.
  • Communicate to safety department or electrical safety committee a clear overview of the common concepts to create an electrical safety program from NFPA 70E.
  • Discuss best practices related to PPE and electrical safety which are still not mandatory in NFPA 70E from the rejected proposals and can make comment to the committee if they believe these changes should be mandatory.
