People tasked with saving lives found their own lives endangered by infectious disease because their employer failed to protect them, according to OSHA. Agency inspectors determined that employees of Lifefleet, a North Lima, Ohio medical transport company were exposed to blood and other bodily fluids which can cause serious diseases such as hepatitis and HIV.
To identify more hidden infections, provide prompt and appropriate care and treatment, and avoid tens of thousands of hepatitis C-related illnesses and deaths, CDC is recommending that all U.S. baby boomers get a one-time test for the hepatitis C virus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is proposing that every U.S. citizen born from 1945 through 1965 get tested for all hepatitis C – and presents some startling statistics to back up that idea.
