Amazon will have to pay $145K over multiple ergonomics cases causing serious musculoskeletal injuries in OSHA’s largest multi-site investigation in over a decade.

The report said peak shopping times resulted in the “highest weekly injury rates” for Amazon warehouse workers.

The report compiled by the Strategic Organizing Center said the company’s injury rate was 6.9% in 2022, compared to 7.9% the year before

Federal workplace safety inspectors, once again, found that the world’s largest e-commerce company exposed workers to hazardous conditions at one of its distribution centers. 

OSHA has again cited Amazon for failing to keep workers safe, and has issued hazard alert letters after inspections at three warehouse facilities – in Deltona, Florida; Waukegan, Illinois; and New Windsor, New York – after finding workers exposed to ergonomic hazards.

OSHA has cited Amazon during inspections at six warehouse facilities in five states for failing to properly record work-related injuries and illnesses. The findings are part of an ongoing investigation.
