Youngstown Glove Company lends a helping 'glove' during Hurricane Sandy cleanup

March 8, 2013

In an effort to help the costly and time-consuming cleanup following the devastation Hurricane Sandy left behind, Youngstown® Glove Company, manufacturers of the world's most durable performance work gloves, has donated 500 pairs of gloves to All Hands Volunteers, an organization committed to providing immediate, effective and sustainable support to communities in need.  A National Hurricane Center report has estimated Hurricane Sandy will be the second-costliest storm in the nation's history.  Youngstown officials hope its donation of gloves, which have been designed to offer dexterous comfort while keeping hands safe, will prove useful when clearing debris, breaking down pieces of wreckage and starting restoration projects.

"When Hurricane Sandy struck we watched a lot of what was happening from the other side of the country and felt the least we could do was help to protect the hands of volunteers with a quality work glove," said Vice President Max Hackett of Youngstown Glove Company.  "Our gloves are designed specifically for tough tasks and we thought workers who will be undertaking those incredibly harsh jobs - from demolition to helping to rebuild and fix structures - would find our gloves advantageous."

Charities like All Hands Volunteers depend on not only manpower, but donated items as well to get cleanup jobs done.  Safety gear allows for volunteers to maximize their impact all while lessening the chance of injuries on the jobsite.

"Hundreds of All Hands volunteers have donated their time to assist victims in rebuilding their homes and communities and while they show up with an enthusiastic attitude and can-do spirit, many are ill-prepared for the rigors of demolition and repairs," Hackett added.  "We're honored to have the opportunity to provide these volunteers with a superior Youngstown work glove - a glove commonly chosen by professional contractors and linemen."

Youngstown Glove Company manufactures the world's most durable performance work gloves.  Founded in 2002, the company has been unwavering in their commitment to quality, innovation and customer satisfaction.  Offering more than 30 performance work glove styles available in sizes small through XX large, the company strives to exceed the demanding needs of professional workers.  Every Youngstown style developed endures extensive testing - both in the laboratory and in the field - prior to being slipped onto customer hands.  Thorough testing, proven patterns, innovative materials and meticulous quality control are all hallmarks of a company with a simple goal: to design the best working gloves you've ever owned.
