AIHA Declaration aimed at promoting workplace safety

The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) has joined with stakeholders from government, non-profit, business, labor, professional institutions and academia in signing the Workplace Health & Safety Partnership Declaration.

The Declaration commits its signers to:

  • create a culture of health and safety in the workplace;
  • increase public understanding of the human and economic impact of poor workplace safety and health; and
  • publicly promote safety and health performance as important indicators of social responsibility.

The Declaration was produced by a working group formed at the first Workplace Safety Summit in March 2001. The 2001 Workplace Safety Summit was created to bring together more than 100 groups and individuals to begin to develop practical solutions and to make the business case for safety.

The Second Annual Workplace Safety Summit will be held April 11-12, 2002, at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
