ASSE conference to tackle top workplace safety issues (7/24)

ASSE President Warren K Brown, CSP, ARM, CSHM, will address attendees of ASSE’s Region III 35th annual Professional Development Conference, to be held August 3-6 at the Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel. Brown will discuss the need to continue to increase awareness of the safety professional’s role in preventing injuries and illnesses on the job, especially internationally.

Retired Brigadier General Jose Riojas will provide a presentation on homeland security support and the role of the safety and health professional Jimmy Cabrera will discuss leadership. Other conference hot topics will include: reducing fleet transportation accidents; addressing multi-cultural work environments; the effects of substance abuse in the workplace; accident investigation; crane safety; oil and gas production emergency response; chemical safety; and risk management.

Technical tours of FMC Technologies and NASA’s Johnson Space Center will be offered, as well as exhibitions from businesses throughout the southwest.
