How non-profit producers add value

Safety and health professionals are always on the lookout for ways they can add value to their organizations. Human resource professionals are in a similar position, since they don't directly contribute to a company's profitability. In a recent study by the Society for Human Resource Management, here is how HR pros say they contribute to organizational bottom-line success.

Recruit and Retain — 77.2 percent

Develop Employee Skills — 55.8 percent

Address Health Care Costs — 50.9 percent

Engage and Motivate Employees — 50.9 percent

Keep Costs Down — 48.7 percent

Communicate Corporate Vision — 30.7 percent

Identify Trends — 24.3 percent

Human Capital Strategy — 22.1 percent

Head Strategic Planning —16.5 percent

Measure Business Drivers — 16.5 percent
