The International Society of Automation, ISA, announced in a recent press release that the 2009 Industrial Automation Safety and Security Symposium, sponsored by the ISA Safety Division, will take place April 22-23, 2009, in Houston, Texas, at the Marriott Houston Hobby Airport.

The event was previously known as the ISA Safety Division Symposium, but has been renamed this year to better reflect the technical content of the program.

This year’s symposium will address technical and business issues associated with identifying and mitigating safety hazards in industrial environments. It will also include additional technical focus on cyber security threats to industrial environments and considerations for engineers designing industrial processes and Safety Instrumented Systems. The symposium will provide an in-depth look at today’s safety technologies and procedures. The event is intended to create a forum where paper presentations and panel discussions transfer information from the leaders and experts on safety and control to industry professionals.

Technical theme areas include:

• Safety Instrumented Systems
• Alarm Management
• Industrial Security — Preventing unsafe conditions from security threats to automation systems and assets
• Lowering Cost of Capitol and Return on Investment through Safety and Security Projects

Pre-registration is open until April 15, 2009, and registration fees are $395 for ISA Members and $495 for non-members.
