Look for OSHA's budget to jump in the federal government's fiscal year 2002. Partisan bickering in Congress is definitely on the back burner as the country mobilizes for the war on terrorism.
The Bush administration originally proposed only a $400,000 increase for OSHA spending in 2002, giving the agency a budget of around $426 million. Congress has upped that figure to $435 million in early committee-level negotiations. Sources expect the $9 million increase to stick when the final budget numbers are hammered out.
