EHS NewsmakersThe global consultancy ORCHSE has announced that Frank White, co-owner and president, will retire from his position on April 30. For more than 20 years of the firm’s 42-year history – originally as Organization Resources Counselors, Inc., through its acquisition by Mercer, and now in its current independent status as ORCHSE Strategies, LLC – Frank has been the leader of the firm’s Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental services.

“Throughout his tenure, Frank has been the personal and professional embodiment of everything ORCHSE represents – a thought leader, an honest broker, and a public policy and legal expert of the highest integrity and credibility among the entire safety and health community,” co-owner Steve Newell said. “His collaborative relationships with leaders and staff in the federal government’s executive and legislative branches, business and professional organizations, and organized labor have been critical in maintaining ORCHSE’s unique stature and influence.”

Prior to joining the consultancy in 1994, Frank worked at the U.S. Department of Labor, serving as Associate Solicitor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and later as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA. Frank was also named the first Director of Standards and Regulations for the Mine Safety and Health Administration. After leaving DOL, Frank joined a private law practice, representing industry clients in major occupational safety and health litigation and rulemaking proceedings.

“Frank’s commitment to excellence, his eloquent advocacy for worker safety and health, his unwavering support for his colleagues, his insightful perspectives, and his unfailing sense of humor have been invaluable and are fundamental to the heritage he leaves us at ORCHSE,” co-owner Scott Madar said.

As part of ORCHSE’s commitment to continuing and enhancing service to its members, its leadership team is welcoming two accomplished new senior staff members: Rich Fairfax, former Deputy Assistant Secretary for OSHA; and Bill Hoyle, former Director, Office of Investigations and Safety Programs for the Chemical Safety Board.

Rich and Bill will join two other recent additions to the ORCHSE team, Senior Consultant Lisa Brooks, formerly of GE and International Paper, and Consulting Service Leader Bill Williams, former vice-president for EH&S with Maersk.

These additions help ORCHSE continue its long tradition of thought-leadership and service excellence for its members and the safety, health and environmental community as a whole.
