The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) held its first ever fashion show promoting wearable safety items during the annual Safety 2015 Conference and Expo held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The fashion show was held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 12:30 pm during a catered lunch.

During the show, models walked down the runway sporting some of the latest safety gear from a variety of brands, all exhibiting at the annual event. Safety apparel was presented by brands such as Ansell, Bulwark, G&K Services, GlenGuard, DuPont, Rasco, Kimberly-Clark, TECGEN, DriFire, Magid, HYTEST, Wolverine Worldwide Brands and more. Clothing items such as boots, boot covers, gloves, work shirts, coveralls, jeans and safety vests were among the many items featured.

In addition to traditional standard safety clothing, some less conventional items were presented. SpillFix introduced its organic absorbent that aids in cleaning spills. SPC Industrial showed off its work platforms, perfect for creating any height that an industrial worker may need to get their job done. SoloProtect introduced its lone worker safety device. The device, specifically designed as an identification badge holder to remain discreet, allows workers out of sight or sound of others to get the help that they need in times of danger by connecting them to a specialized Emergency Dispatch Center manned by highly trained emergency operators.

The fashion show, about an hour in length, even featured some musical dance numbers displaying the safety items, with dances to songs such as “She Works Hard for the Money” and “It’s Raining Men,” which lightened the mood on the typically very serious topic of workplace safety. Once the fashion show came to an end, attendees were able to go back to visiting exhibitors of the trade show.
