Petzl today announced it will showcase its first-ever American National Standards Institute (ANSI) rated harness for the wind energy industry at the 2016 National Safety Council Congress & Expo.

“The VOLT WIND LT harness is specifically designed for workers who need to access wind turbine nacelles.  The construction is lightweight, breathable, easy to don and includes rear protective elements to increase its durability,” said Michel Goulet, professional division sales manager at Petzl

The VOLT WIND LT harness joins Petzl’s ANSI-rated line of new fall arrest and work positioning harnesses that include releasable lanyard connector parking loops below the shoulders.

The EASYFIT hydrophobic mesh vest-like design ensures the harness remains comfortable and keeps its shape. The FAST buckles on the wide, semi-rigid waist belt and leg loops allow the harness to be easily donned with both feet on the ground. The FAST buckles retain their adjustment settings in between use.

Petzl added wear protectors at the rear of the waist belt and below the dorsal point to limit abrasion when working inside towers and in their ladder way. The harness' anatomical and highly breathable design coupled with its wide, semi-rigid waist belt ensures long-lasting comfort and optimal freedom of movement.

The harness is compatible with the new ANSI-rated ABSORBICA-Y, a double lanyard with a captive carabiner and MGO connectors that provide continuous protection when passing intermediate anchor points for users weighing 110 to 286 lbs. The compact, low profile and integrated energy absorber absorbs energy in stages and its calibrated webbing will tear progressively as force levels rise.

The VOLT WIND LT costs $359 and is available now. For more information, please visit www.petzl.com
