Registration opens for ASSE's SeminarFest 2018

ASSE
September 21, 2017

Many occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals take significant steps in their careers year after year because of a unique education event that empowers them to dig deeper, achieve their professional development goals, and engage in a vibrant community of their peers. That event is the annual SeminarFest from the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), which is now taking registrations for the Feb. 1-8 immersive learning experience at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

SeminarFest 2018 will enable professionals to take a focused approach to OSH education, developing skills and knowledge they can immediately apply on the job to help reduce workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities. The event features more than 90 courses from 40 expert facilitators, covering the industry’s most relevant topics in 10 tracks. The full-day course format allows attendees to gain in-depth knowledge on a specific topic, taking a different approach than typical conferences where people jump between shorter presentations.

“Our educational philosophy is that learning should be immersive, engaging and relevant to what you’re doing in the workplace today,” said Aleese Eckenrode, manager of education and program development at ASSE, a leading source for education among OSH professionals. “You can bring back the newest ideas and approaches within the safety field from SeminarFest, and emerge as a leader in your organization.”

Attendees have the opportunity to interact face-to-face with more than 1,200 professionals while building a network of contacts who share their passion for tackling safety and health challenges. The weeklong program inspires attendees to effect change in their workplaces, and prepares them to deliver results. SeminarFest 2018 will offer several new courses, including:

●  Preparing for the new safety management specialist (SMS) certification

●  Training a risk assessment team

●  Understanding human and organizational performance

●  Transitioning from project manager to project leader

●  Creating business continuity plans

●  Facilitating participatory decision making

SeminarFest 2018 will offer six certificate programs, including the new Managed Fall Protection Certificate Program, to help safety professionals advance their careers and receive recognition for their expertise. Attendees can also earn up to 5.6 continuing education units (CEUs) across the full eight-day program, and prepare for certification exams that lead to industry-preferred designations such as CSP, ASP, CHST and the new SMS.

Safety professionals can learn more about the vast educational opportunities at SeminarFest 2018 by visiting seminarfest.asse.org. Early-bird discounts are available through Dec. 11. Groups qualify for special rates by contacting Group Coordinator Nancy O’Toole at notoole@asse.org or 847.768.3466.
